The Young Israel of Sunny Isles Beach was founded in 1982 in a hotel room by Rabbi Rubin R. Dubin, OBM, who served as founding Rabbi until 1989. Rabbi Dubin recognized a need for a strong religious institution to guide the growing Jewish community.
Most of the original members were Holocaust survivors and United States war veterans who recognized a need for a strong religious institution to guide the growing Jewish community. While we embrace growth, we remain steadfast to our founding commitments to halacha, Israel, and our community.
In 2000, the shul moved to its present location, where it has expanded its services to the community.
In 2007, Rabbi Meir Moshe Haber became our shul's spiritual leader. Expanding on the original vision of the shul and the surrounding community, Rabbi Haber committed to creating an environment for religious Jews to flourish. Due to his steadfast dedication, we are the only local shul offering three daily minyanim 365 days a year.
Our friendly, open community offers dynamic activities to suit varied interests. Religious, educational, and social committees respond to our members needs and interests so that they can create a plethora of exciting opportunities. Our commitment to Torah values is at the core of all our kehilla's activities. Thus, in addition to programming we care for our elderly and homebound members and provide many Chesed servicesour members and community.
